Follistatin 344 and Muscle Cells

A full-sized synthetic equivalent of the naturally occurring substance folllistatin is called folllistatin 344. It counteracts the actions of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), activin, and myostatin.

These activities result in decreased scar formation, suppressed specific inflammatory responses, and enhanced muscle growth (both hypertrophy and hyperplasia) in animal experiments. The body can modify follistatin 344 to create different forms of follistatin.

Muscle cells secrete a protein called myostatin, which stops other muscle cells from differentiating and growing. Investigations purport that Follistatin may inhibit it since it is related to the TGF-beta protein family.
